Professor Renslow Sherer with University of Chicago Employed as Special-term Professor of the Hospital

(Reporter Chen Jing, correspondent Cao Qian) In the afternoon of March 27, in #1 meeting on the 12th floor, Professor Renslow Sherer with the Infectious Disease Department of University of Chicago Medical School was employed as special-term professor of ZNWU


In 2003, Prof. Renslow Sherer arrived in China to provide instructions on AIDS prevention and treatment. He visited Hubei for over 30 times, joined with Professor Gui Xi’en to provide training to AIDS medical workers, and treated patients in local hospitals. In the last 10 years, Professor Sherer visited ZNWU about two times per year. During every visit, he attended academic symposium with counterparts of the hospital and inspected the patients. The professor is also the initiator of University of Chicago – Wuhan University Medical Education Reform Program and the responsible person of his university. He has made great contributions to Chinese medical education cause. In 2011, he was presented Bianzhong Award as a distinguished foreign expert by the Hubei Provincial Government.


Professor Sherer said that it as a great honor to become a special-term professor of ZNWU. He recalled that in 2003 he arrived in Wuhan for the first time and met Professor Gui Xi’en. In the last 12 years, they worked closely as very good friends. Every visit was a touching experience for him, especially the leadership and teachers’ efforts in teaching. He promised to make his contributions for bilateral cooperation, and the progress of medical education.
